CHIBANA CHURCH OF CHRIST

OKINAWA JAPAN
GODS LIGHT IN A TROUBLED WORLD

Our Worship Services

Thank you for visiting our website!  If you are planning to visit the Okinawa area, you are most welcome at any of our worship services, devotionals, and Bible classes.  Here is what you can expect in our worship to God:

Prayer:  During the worship service several of the men will lead the congregation in public prayer (Acts 2:42).

Singing:  We will sing several songs and hymns together, led by one or more song leaders.  These will be sung  acappella (without musical instruments).  We sing in this manner because it follows the pattern of the early church.  Singing is the only type of music authorized in the New Testament for the worship of the church (Ephesians 5:19).

The Lord's Supper:  Following the pattern of the early church (Acts 20:7), we partake of the Lord's Supper each Sunday.  In partaking of the Lord's Supper we remember the Lord's death until He comes again (1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

Giving:  Each week we give to the work of the church (1 Corinthians 16:2).  God has richly blessed us.  We have many good works that the church supports.  These works require financial support.  Please note:  If you are visiting with us, please do not feel obligated to give when the collection plate is passed.  We take a collection only on Sunday, and the obligation to give is limited to the members.

Bible study:  We engage in regular Bible study through preaching, Bible reading, and direct teaching (2 Timothy 4:1,2).  In addition, the Servant Leadership has set aside time on Sunday morning and Wednesday evenings for Bible study.  We have classes for all ages.

At the close of the sermon there will be an invitation offered to those present who wish to respond by becoming Christians, being restored to fellowship, or seek the prayers of the church.
