A Word from Tracy (date: July 7, 2010) We begin a new series this week called “Why Jesus? Solid Reasons to Believe, Commit, and Follow”. My goal in this series is that believers, especially those that may be lukewarm or spiritually ‘dry’ right now, would have their faith fanned into a white-hot passion for Christ. And my goal for those who have not turned to Christ yet is that they might see solid reasons which compel them to place their trust in Jesus Christ as a Savior they can believe in, commit to, and follow always. You don’t have to try very hard in our society to find voices that say the Christian faith is outdated, unfounded, unscientific, antagonistic to basic human rights, and is used by church-goers as a way to escape the hard realities of the world. Some even think that believers today don’t follow Christ, study the Bible, or attend worship services because they have sufficient, legitimate reasons to believe in Jesus of Nazareth, but rather because a church-going, Bible-thumping lifestyle makes them feel better about themselves and their place in the world. Well, maybe that is true for some, but my goal in this sermon series will be to make the case for Jesus of Nazareth being who He said He was- the Savior. And when I say Savior, here is what I mean- someone capable of defeating death, your death, and giving you eternal life. I pray that God opens our eyes together to truly see and understand how magnificent Jesus is! Thanks, Tracy Bezner |
